Cleveland, OH (PRESS RELEASE – May 22, 2009) — Small Business Trends LLC announced that it has acquired BizSugar.com, an online social media and content sharing website for small businesses and entrepreneurs. This acquisition is aligned with Small Business Trends’ continued focus on serving small businesses and entrepreneurs, and the small business market as a whole.

BizSugar is a site in which small businesses can share news, information, blog posts, videos, podcasts, images and other content for the benefit of other business owners and entrepreneurs. It’s a way to highlight what small businesses are doing, and bring visibility to their businesses, their thinking, their content, as well as help them navigate successfully through the challenges and issues they face each day.

BizSugar was launched in October, 2007 by DBH Communications, Inc. It has several thousand registered members. The sale includes the social site, website widgets, blog, weekly newsletter, WordPress plugin, associated domain names, and the trademarked BizSugar name/logo and “Sweet!” voting buttons.

“BizSugar has been lovingly cared for and tended. A lot of social sites for small businesses quickly become spammy. Too often they become neglected. BizSugar is neither of those things. I’ve been aware of the site since it launched in 2007,” said Anita Campbell, CEO of Small Business Trends. “Small businesses need as much help and support as they can get for online visibility – BizSugar helps highlight the good work of small businesses. At the same time, it is a learning tool where one can find out important business resources and advice, and discover useful insights about owning and operating a small business, and what it feels like to be an entrepreneur. I and the entire extended Small Business Trends team are excited and look forward to continuing the work that John Holsen and the team at DBH Communications started — and living up to their standards.”

“I am excited to have Anita Campbell and her team taking over the reins of BizSugar,” said John Holsen, president of DBH Communications, Inc. and founder of BizSugar. “Her websites have a strong following, and I recognize their commitment to educating and assisting entrepreneurs. I believe they will take BizSugar to a new level for reaching and helping the small business community. I know I’ve left the website in good hands.”

If you own and operate a small business and haven’t familiarized yourself with BizSugar yet, now is the time to take a moment to do so. The site contains quality content and becoming a member is easy to do. Simply visit BizSugar, click the register tab and come join this vivid community of small business owners. Share your content, vote on submissions, network and connect with others in your industry and bring visibility to your business — all while having a bit of fun. Sprinkle some sugar on your business. Sweet!
