Welcome to Martin Zwilling: Contributor of the Week!

We always love the opportunity to salute BizSugar contributors who have helped to enrich the community.

And Martin Zwilling is just such a member who has contributed volumes to our community with his great Startup Professional Musings blog.

Since 2009, Martin has contributed an amazing 425 links to BizSugar for the benefit of our growing community.

So, in that respect, Martin’s recognition is long overdue.

Here is a bit more of his story:

Over a career spanning 30 years, Martin has worked in large businesses and with startups and in that time has developed both the passion and experience to work with and nurture entrepreneurs.

His experience has included being involved in the startup process not just as a mentor but also with lending funding experience and help in the business plan process.

He says his experiences led him to found Startup Professionals, a company supplying products and services to entrepreneurs and small business founders.

The experience also led him to the burgeoning social media market where he became heavily involved as a way to share his knowledge and gather an audience.

“Over time I became a regular contributor to Forbes, Harvard Business Review, Business Insider, and the Huffington Post, as well as maintaining my own blog,” Martin added.

Last year he also released a book Do You Have What It Takes To Be An Entrepreneur?

Over his career, Martin says he has been a big user with very positive results.

“I attribute my business growth and success to my large audience of 380,000 followers on Twitter, and additional visibility through LinkedIn, Facebook, and BizSugar,” Martin said. “I’m now a total believer in the power of social media and BizSugar.”

  • Just my two cents here, but somebody better do something drastic to get this site back on its feet or sadly, I think you are going to run out of contributors to feature.

What was once a vibrant site and part of my everday online activity appears to be in its death throes. A vast majority of the regular contributors seem to have just up-and-left.

I see about 1/10th the amount of comments that used to be left and no real voting except for people who just seem to log in, click on 10-20 articles in a row and log out. That and the 15 or so “mysterious voting profiles” who just seem to vote up stories to generate new content…see the “made-hot-bys” to see who “they” are.

It’s a shame. I left for other reasons I will not go into, but it’s still sad to see what was, not too long ago, a very active, lively site, with dialogue and running commentary biting the dust.

This place needs a new team as bad as any I have ever seen.

  • Hi Yoni,

As a long time contributor to Bizsugar and now as the new community manager, I am of course disappointed to read your comments. In saying that, I know that you have been a brilliant member of our community and I’ve always loved your content so I will be taking your opinion on board.

As you know, our Bizsugar community continues to grow and evolve each and every day. While we will continue to welcome new members, we also must ensure that those people, who have supported and grown with us, are also reminded of how much we value their involvement and support. Your criticism, while some might consider it harsh, I welcome. I have always felt there is more learning to be had in harder listening.

The best way to get people to buy in to engaging on BizSugar is surely to continue to set a great example. As the new community manager, I realize I still have lots to learn and I know you have lots to teach me. So I invite you to continue to share your insight, your content and lead by your actions.

    Warm Regards,
    Niall
