When you can no longer see the forest for the trees, it may be time for a fresh perspective. That’s where Robert Peters of Fresh Eyes Consultancy comes in.
Peters, our BizSugar contributor of the week, founded his business in 2011 after spending 15 years in IT and operation management roles.
“I’d built up a lot of experience in helping small businesses grow, keeping them running smoothly, and continually providing a great customer experience,” Peters explains.
He specializes in helping small business owners and entrepreneurs grow profitable and sustainable companies. The name of his firm also explains his philosophy of helping clients see their businesses from a new perspective.
“I use my ‘fresh eyes’ to help you focus on the activities and projects that will grow your small business and I’ll also coach you through the growing pains,” Peters explains.
Some of the key areas where Peters focuses when helping his small business clients include:
- Creating the perfect customer profile
- Choosing a marketing strategy that brings results without burning you out
- Avoiding the feast or famine cycle through better cash flow management
He says his main focus is to help owners transform businesses every step of the way.
“I have a very flexible approach and work with my clients whenever they need me to ensure that they always have support, an opinion, motivation, accountability, or even just a sounding board,” Peters explains.
He says he loves his work because it gives him the opportunity to be a part of his clients’ small business stories.
“It’s great to be able to help people and see their businesses flourish and grow, and be there to celebrate with them when they have breakthroughs, and support and coach them through the days when they find it tough,” he said.
He says he uses BizSugar in two important ways to improve his business.
“Firstly, to share posts from my own blog, and guest posts that I write, so that they can be useful to more small businesses,” Peters says. “Secondly, to find other great content that I can share with my followers on Twitter and LinkedIn.”
He says the BizSugar community helps him to find small business posts he might never have found otherwise.

Congrats Robert Peters! What do you do with people who have “colored glasses” on their eyes?! 😉
Thank you Martin, it’s a real honour to be selected!
That’s a great question 🙂 thank you. I often talk to small business owners with both extremes of “coloured glasses”.
Those who wear rose tinted and think everything couldn’t be better and those who wear grey tinted and think things couldn’t be worse.
I both cases I encourage people to take a step back and look at how their business is really performing, what measurable results are evident.
If things really are going well, great, how can we keep that going and ensure that it’s consistent? – and if things are not going well we go back to the basics and ensure that the small business owner understands who they are trying to reach, what that persons problems are and how their business provides a compelling, relevant solution.
The variety of helping people who wear both types of glasses and no glasses at all is one of the things I love about my work 🙂
